A fire broke out in a multi-storey vest factory located near Chinarpark in Kaikhali, Kolkata. The blaze erupted around 7am, sending plumes of smoke billowing into the sky. Four fire engines rushed to the scene in an attempt to contain the fire and prevent further damage.

The fire originated in a four-storey residential building situated in the Dashdron area of Kaikhali. Shockingly, the vest factory was housed on the fourth floor of the residential building, posing questions about the safety regulations and construction norms. The vertical layout of the building complicated firefighting efforts, making it challenging for the fire brigade to extinguish the flames.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported thus far, with residents from the affected floor safely evacuated. However, it remains unclear whether anyone was present in the factory at the time of the fire. Preliminary investigations by the fire department suggest that a short circuit triggered the blaze, highlighting potential electrical safety hazards.

Furthermore, the question arises on how a factory was functioning at a residential building. As per law, factory operation in residential building is illegal as they pose risk.

Authorities are now conducting a thorough inquiry into the incident to ascertain the cause of the fire and evaluate the structural integrity of the building.
